Lockheed Martin F-16CJ Fighting Falcon

After having build 2 Kinetic F-16's this time I choose for a Tamiya one. Quite a difference with the Kinetic ones.

Tamiya use metal pins, for some of the weapons points, to make them changeable.

The tail section is fitted wtih pins, these are fixed with some small screws.

Very handy during the painting of the aircraft, less masking.

The wheel area looks like the Kinetic.

Some panel lining on the fuel tanks.

The colors are from Vallejo 71156 Air Color Set USAF Colors "Gray Schemes"
Panel lines were done with Ecoline, black at the underside and white on the top.

Thanks for looking.

Vought F4U-1D Corsair

Finished another F4U-1D Corsair, this time was the kit supplied with a Moto-Tug. The first kit to be completed in 2016.
Still trying to learn weathering skills. For weathering I used Tamiya Weathering Master C-Set. Primary on the Moto-Tug, the propellor and the front side of the wings.
As always with Tamiya a real pleasure to build this kit.
The color is a mix from Vallejo Model Air 091 Insignia Blue and Model Color 522 Satin Varnish.

Together with the F4U-1D kitnumber 61061.

Douglas A-1J Skyraider

Finished this was a pleasure full build. Like all the Tamiya ones I've done.
As with the Corsair I added some copper wire to the engine.
The painting was done with Vallejo, for wash the inside of the engine was done with AK and the panel lines were done with Ecoline.

The LAU-68 rocket pod was weathered a bit, just to simmulate that it was used before.

Vought F4U-1D Corsair

Build out of the box. It's like all Tamiya models the fit is very good.
To the engine I added some copper wire and the first tries to use Vallejo Cipping Fluid. Didn't work out on the wings as I wanted. I like the effect on the drop tanks. The blue is a mix from Vallejo Model Air 091 Insignia Blue and Model Color 522 Satin Varnish.
Overall a really relaxing build.

The engine with the additional copper wire.

The cockpit with some chipping on the seat.

North American P-51B and F-51D Mustang

During the Christmas holidays I put the A-6 aside. I got stuck with the very tiny parts that keep coming off I started with two Mustangs, both from Tamiya.

As always the start is with the cockpitt. The build is good and they look very similar.

With worldwar II fighters it doesn't take long before the fuselages are closed.

The difference is in the weapons. The F-51 got some HVAR's

For the F-51 I ordered the black primer from Vallejo as it will get a natural metal finish.

In the box of the P-51B the Malcolm Hood is present, I think the only difference between Tamiya box 61042 and 61047 will be the set of decals.

Both finished now, all small parts were added in the last weeks

And the F-51.

Both in one shot:
